In August Anatel will start receiving results from the survey of the pay-TV market it has commissioned, covering some 3,000 subscribers, from the University of São Paulo?s School of Economics & Management and the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul.
The sample of subscribers to all pay-TV distributors was selected in accordance with criteria used by the research institutions. No names or other personal details will be disclosed to Anatel and pay-TV distributors. Nor has the questionnaire been made public so far, although it?s known to contain 75 questions, 60 of which relate to quality of service and 15 to user profiles.
Anatel will process the tabulated data and publish a summary of the findings, possibly in October. It plans to renew the agreement with the two research institutions for another survey in 2004. It wants a historical series of data on quality of service in the pay-TV market to place alongside similar surveys already under way for mobile and landline telephone services.
