Latin channels step up cross-border expansion

Instead of sitting back and waiting for the pay-TV market to resume growth in Latin America, pan-regional programmers are turning to Spanish-speaking communities in Europe and the U.S. Discovery Networks Latin America/Iberia has announced the acquisition of Spain?s Estilo from Sogecable and will relaunch it as the second 24-hour channel offered by Discovery to Spanish pay-TV subscribers.
Casa Club TV, a channel available in Latin America, has entered the attractive U.S. Hispanic market, where it will be part of DirecTV?s lineup.
Claxson Infinito has been on sale to Latin residents of the U.S. for some months.
