Sky Brazil?s first-quarter earnings report confirms the results earlier published by News Corporation, its controlling shareholder, but different accounting principles mean different numbers in some instances.
Net revenue amounted to 40 million US Dollars, for EBITDA of 1.59m USD and net income of 8.8m USD. This is Sky Brazil?s best performance ever in terms of the bottom line.
The report?s operational highlights include the sale of 53,000 pay-per-view packages for Big Brother Brasil 3, the launch of Eurochannel, Climatempo (with an interactive version) and Boomerang, a new subscriber packaging format (no results on sales yet), and a strong start for sales of Brazilian Championship soccer matches.
Sky Brazil also highlights a 7% drop in operating cost thanks to the agreement with programmers. It had 740,000 subscribers at the end of the first quarter.
