Claxson presented its new panregional channel Retro, which airs classic movies and television series, to the Brazilian market on Tuesday, August 19. The channel premieres on DirecTV September 1. According to Ignacio Uranga Imaz, Claxson?s managing director in Brazil, starting in October Retro will be offered to other distributors. Fanny Friedmann, DirecTV Brazil?s marketing director, said during the launch event that Retro will be available to subscribers who opt for the Gold package or better. Roughly 90% of the DTH operator?s subscribers already watch the channel, she claimed. DirecTV and Claxson will hold a special event to present Retro to subscribers next week.
