Anatel has decided to postpone by about a month the auction of PCS leftovers in bands D and E. Bid delivery is now scheduled for November 12 and the auction itself will take place on November 19 instead of October 22. Companies interested in acquiring additional frequencies in the 1800 MHz band will also have more time: the deadline has been put back from October 29 to December 6. According to Luiz Guilherme Schymura, director-general of Anatel, the decision to announce the postponements was taken after talks with Communications Minister Juarez Quadros, who passed on information about discomfort in the industry with regard to the original dates. He said Telecom Americas, Telefonica, Embratel, Telesp Celular, TCO, BCP and Oi officially requested a postponement of the PCS auction, in addition to Vésper as already announced. Brasil Telecom didn?t submit an official request but was known to be interested in more time.
